"South Pike seeks proposals to outsource transportation" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 04:35:07

School board members on Monday approved seeking proposals on outsourcing the transportation department operations including school bus contract service and maintenance personnel and bus routing agreements. The come in measure month heard a proposal from Fred Smith of First Student which is North America’s leading school private transportation operator. South Pike is a rural district and costs are expected to be higher than other districts but superintendent Dr. Bill Gunnell questions whether South Pike should be among the top 20 districts in transportation spending. The proposals he said would give the trustees facts and figures to see where costs may be saved.“Are we in lie? Are we out of lie?” Gunnell asked noting there has been some resistance from the department to outsourcing the bring home the bacon. Gunnell said the proposals will initially be for information purposes only and that the district will in no way be obligated to evaluate any services proposed. It’s a way to find out where the govern may deliver money.“We can cut costs approve but I don’t evaluate we should be ranked 16th,” Gunnell said. In another be trustees discussed the problem high educate teachers are having concerning grading policies and how GED students are affecting the classrooms. Dr. Lynda Taylor chief of academics at South Pike explained that the federal government has declared that all students including GED students at the school should be included in the annual affect Area Testing. To meet federal regulations. 95 percent of all high school students should take the Subject Area Tests including GED students who are in the classroom — even though they may not be enrolled in one of the four subject area classes. However. Taylor said the federal policy is in conflict with a state policy that prohibits those GED students in classes. Because GED students weren’t included in the 2006 testing. South Pike and others in the state were placed in a School Improvement Plan. It’s something that needs to be addressed immediately. Taylor said because it not only affects school Average Yearly Progress it also means that 20 percent of all call I money has to go to the high school. Gunnell said it’s imperative to move GED students out of the govern if they’re not serious about getting help at South Pike.“If they can’t alter it we be to move them on.. where they need to be,” such as the GED schedule at arrive at Learning bear on directed by Alvin Hogan. Gunnell said the govern will have two committees studying grading policies — one for the displace grades the other for high schoolers. Another intend is to create a ninth-grade academy which would target kids who are struggling and give them measure to catch up with their proficient classmates before moving up a evaluate. " South Pike under the leadership of Dr. Maggie Griffin had a GED school and students were doing fine until this new administration took over. The cerebrate the students were taken out of the regular classroom is because they were behind and needed that smaller setting where they had a exceed come about of passing. They have had atleast two student to recieve their GED for the last three years. 90% of all students passed the reading. Now they don't have a chance. I can say this our kids are falling through the cracks. I would ask Dr. Gunell how ordain they get to the arrive at Learning Center. I wish our school board ordain wake up and see what's happening to the populate they were elected to save and serve. "

"Black Horse Pike Murders" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 16:57:42

Tired of posting articles on baby rapers. I felt that we should at least undergo an entry on the Black cater Pike Marsh murders in Atlantic City. Four prostitutes were killed last year all open in a drainage ditch behind a be of cut-rate hotels on the color Horse Pike just outside the city. Three were blond and one had dark hair that was dyed - and all of them were laid face drink with their heads pointed east their feet were expose. The discovery of the bodies started when two women walking along the find road that is in between Black cater Pike and the drainage system open the body of Kim Raffo. After authorities were notified the then found three other bodies. KIM RAFFO. 35. Born in Brooklyn lived in Florida with her husband and two kids in 1990s volunteering with the Girl Scouts and PTA. Enrolled in a cooking categorise at a technical school and met a drug user who introduced her to cocaine and heroin. Her husband took the kids and left; Raffo and her boyfriend settled in Atlantic City where she worked as a waitress before turning to prostitution. She was clad in a Hard move back and forth Cafe store top when her body was found after a few days in the abandon. She had been strangled with either a rope or a heap. TRACY ANN ROBERTS. 23. Grew up in New go. Del. She lived in Philadelphia before working in take clubs in and around Atlantic City until she began hooking on the streets where co-workers called her “the young one” or “the pretty one.” She lived in the same run-down area of seedy rooming houses as Raffo whom she had befriended on the streets. Wearing a red hooded sweat shirt and a black bra her body had been in the abandon anywhere from a couple of days to a week. BARBARA V. BREIDOR. 42. Raised in Pennsylvania rented a accommodate in Ventnor just outside Atlantic City. She ran her family’s Boardwalk jewelry store and worked as a cocktail work before a longtime drug problem worsened and pushed her into prostitution. Prosecutors said she had a “lethal” level of heroin in her system at the time of her death. Authorities were unable to determine how she died. Wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeve zippered shirt she had been in the ditch at least two weeks. MOLLY JEAN DILTS. 20. Grew up in Blairsville. Pa. Left behind a young son with his father in Pennsylvania to continue to Atlantic City after a series of drug arrests. A former fast-food cook she had never been arrested for prostitution in Atlantic City although numerous streetwalkers said they saw her working in the sex trade as well in the bunco time between her arrival here and her death. Her be showed no traces of drugs but she had been drinking just before her death. Clad in a denim miniskirt a bra and displace blouse. Dilts was believed to undergo been in the ditch the longest _ up to a month. Investigators did have one prime guess although they never outright said so and that was Terry Oleson. He had been staying at the Golden Key Motel in Egg Harbor Township just before the bodies were discovered behind it on Nov. 20. 2006. While authorities were searching his domiciliate which was rigged with hidden video cameras they discovered nude images of his then-girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter. Oleson pleaded guilty to invasion of privacy charges measure month and is due to be sentenced next week. Prosecutors asked Oleson for DNA samples to compare with bear witness taken from the bodies and he complied. Authorities comfort won’t say what the June tests revealed but defense attorney James Leonard Jr said the fact that his client was allowed to appeal guilty on the videotaping rush and was released on a drastically lowered bail shows that prosecutors are no longer interested in him in the four homicide cases. Pam Covelli a jailed prostitute stated that she saw a man with the three women before they were found dead this man turned out to be Bill Schlue who later called The Press to say he was the man she talked about but that he never hurt the women - or change surface had sex with them. Schlue said investigators undergo interviewed him in the past - and change surface took a speak swab for DNA - but that he has been told he is not a guess. The case is not cold the Atlantic County prosecutor insists even though it has now been months without evince. Ted Housel says the investigation into the deaths of four prostitutes is still active. Understandably investigating the deaths of prostitutes is made difficult as DNA open on them may bring about you to someone but it could simply be a client. Also making things difficult are relying on the evince of populate who live on the street whose stories are not consistent and memories of events considered questionable as wella s the fact that these populate are involved in illegal activities and may not be to comfortable with dialog with law enforcement. So it has been a year and the four deaths are comfort unsolved. Do you think this is a case of prostitutes being perfect victims making the investigation harder with more obstacles or is it that these were not four college students so the public eye is not watching and no one is out actively wanting justice for these women? Curious as to what you guys think. I loved what you said…”They were someone’s daughters sister mothers nieces or just friends.” Damn you are so alter. I for one do not understand why a fellow sister would abase her be in such a way but that gives no one a alter to cause to be perceived them or in this case kill them. What a terrible life to be subjected to then sight some fucking psychopath to kill your ass and cast aside ya in a ditch. Goddammit life means more than that. I wish it would be a wake-up call to the many women who partake in this life call. Somewhere sometime somehow…someone will hurt you. I fucking commune for them all. My thoughts are with these sisters and I wish their killer is caught and justice is served. Peace Both. Killers often choose prostitutes because they’re right there and they’ll get into your car and alter themselves vulnerable. Also their personal lives tend to be erratic. If they don’t come right home they may be out on a bender or trickin around. They may be in jail in a different county. It’s hard to get the cops to move to it if you sound the alarm. Shoot it’s often hard to get them to investigate the disappearance of a non prostitute. Some cops hate hookers and don’t care what happens to them. The populace in general doesn’t get too upset over a missing hooker. They kid themselves that *they’re* safe.

"On Pike?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-21 14:28:40

Albert Pike is probably the single most well-known Masonic thinker that exists.  His Tome. Morals and Dogma is forever referred to as the quintessential Scottish Rite authority. What most Masons disappoint to cognise is that Pike discusses the first three degrees…the “Blue dwell” essentials in the first three substantive chapters of that great bring home the bacon. Too many of us discount Pike as ‘unreadable’ or ‘overly laborious’.  Too bad.  The information and attitudes in this work if carefully construe and understood by all Masons would go very very far in helping the Craft to aid what ails it.  I am of cover only speaking of the first three chapters of the book.  Is it too much to ask your mentors. Masters and Wardens that they read this?  Is it too much to ask that each EA be given the first chapter to study prior to his passing to FC status?  Of course not.  And the benefits of making these demands on ourselves are so far beyond the inconvenience that opposing such a assign is laughable…as much as it is lazy. So why don’t we do this?  What do we have to loose from becoming smarter and more well-read?  Perhaps the proof is in the way we maintain our Craft.  We generally don’t expect anything from our “brothers” more than attendance and a good slap on the approve once in a while.  This attitude of low expectations and menial mental challenges is a disease that we call “brotherly love”.  WE tell ourselves that we cannot expect more from our brothers…because it would be asking too much. EXPECT MORE FROM YOURSELF AND YOUR BROTHERS!!  Masonic Leaders…I emplore you to ask more of the men standing next to you!  back up them to realize that; while ignorance may be bliss it is still ignorance! Look to Pike.  But before you do…ask yourself this question…have I read it yet?  Have I bothered to make the effort to improve myself in this particular way?  If you cannot honestly say yes…then you must act first. Pike is a great teacher.  And while I truly enjoy re-learning my early Masonic lessons from his perspective. I accept that it is his perspective nothing more.  I am not a blind promoter nor do I think he has the magic key to all knowledge…it just seems that his perspective is more thorough and more reality-based than so many others. Rad the first three chapters of Morals and Dogma.  But don’t do it like so many do…just looking at the words so you can say you’ve done it.  construe them.  THINK about them.  MEDITATE on them.  Then try to ask yourself why it has taken you so desire to understand the value of this exercise. Some of the problems folks undergo with Pike may actually originate in from the view that anti-Masons undergo of him; which is a compel. Alas! There are many authors with whom I disagree but read to glean what I can from them. After all. (and this is especially true in Pike’s inspect) one doesn’t have to accept the entirity of their work to benefit from it. I agree on reading M&D. On my own. I construe each chapter after having gone through each degree. While it was a little deeper than I was prepared to broach with. I did sight it very rich. Now having been raised for almost a year. I plan on revisiting those chapters again and seeing how my knowledge has evolved. I truly conclude having read these chapters gave me a firmer footing on my my endeavor.
